Pre-engineered Building

Pre-engineered buildings are the structures that are best designed to suit the specific requirements of a customer.

INTRODUCTION

Pre-engineered Steel Buildings are designed to suit very specific customer requirements. Upon finalizing the requirements, the Primary and Secondary structures are factory-prepared and are assembled at site.

The concept is a huge success story in The U.S. and Europe and has made inroads into Indian market less than a decade back.

However, most of the production units coming up today are Pre-engineered Steel Buildings.

Ability to span long distances

Clear Spans up to 60 mtrs. without internal columns are possible in case of Pre-engineered Buildings. The structure is cost effective. Length is not a constraint.

Flexibility in Building Dimensions

The building could be designed as per the specific customer requirement in terms of Length, Width, Height and load Bearing capacity. Tailor made structure enables optimization of cost without undue spending on heavy structure without the need for the same.

Easy Expansion

In case of well defined plan in advance, it is possible to have expandable frames which will provide for future expansion, thereby allowing cost spreading over a longer period.

Maintenance-free Exteriors

Leakage proof Roofing and Cladding made from 550 mpa high tensile steel coated with Zinc, Aluminium and Silicon Alloy (Galvalume Sheets) for maintenance free exteriors. Also the structure is coated with high quality protective coatings to ensure long maintenance-free interiors and exteriors.

No On-site Fabrication

The primary and secondary structure are fabricated and prepared at Devashish Plant and transported to customer site in knocked down conditions. The experienced erection team from Devashish will erect the structure at customer site without any welding operation at site.

Design Accuracy

The designing and drafting of Devashish Pre-engineered Buildings is carried out on sophisticated softwares to ensure accuracy of design, development and execution.

Stringent Quality Assurance standards

Devashish follows its Quality System which ensures stringent Quality System in place for Design, Production and erection of Devashish Building Systems.

Faster Project Execution

The concept of Pre-engineered Building is based on use of Standards. Right from Design to manufacturing to Erection, standardization of activities make it faster for us to execute a project faster by 30 % of the time it takes to execute a conventional engineering project.

Cost Efficiency

The foundations of Pre-engineered Buildings are lighter compared to conventional buildings and also less in number as it is possible to have a wider clear span building.

Adherence to International Standards

Building designed and manufactured in accordance with Internationally accepted Standards and Codes like MBMA (Metal Building Manufacturers' Association, AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction Inc. USA) and AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute, USA.

High Aesthetic Appeal

Highly qualified design team from Devashish provides various options for designing of structure and also the exteriors of the premises. Accordingly, it is possible for customer to visualize the appearance of the premises even at the concept stage.

Provision for Industrial Ventilation

Devashish also manufactures the range of Industrial ventilation solutions which are meant to meet the requirements of Air Ventilation and Natural Light provision. These products are suggested and integrated in the building quote at a very competitive rate making the package complete in all regards.

In-house procurement of Goods and Services to ensure consistency

Devashish operates on philosophy of creating value and hence has all the major services and components produced in-house. The design, development, manufacturing of primary structure, secondary structure, roofing & cladding systems, hardware components, ventilation products and erection of the building systems are carried out by Devashish Infrastructure and its own group companies. This ensures adherence to standards set and also helps honouring the timeline commitments with ease.

Some basic parameters needed to familiarise with this type of building.

Building Width :
(BW)

BW is defined as the distance from outside of eave strut of one side wall to outside of eave strut of the opposite side wall.

Building Length :
(BL)

BL is defined as the distance between the outside flanges of end wall columns in opposite end walls. The length covers various bay lengths.

End Bay Length :
(EBL)

EBL is the distance from outside of the outer flange of end wall columns to center line of the first interior frame column.

Interior Bay Length :
(IBL)

BH is defined as the distance from bottom of the main frame column base plate to the top outer point of the eave strut. When columns are recessed or elevated from finished floor, eave height is the distance from finished floor to top of eave strut.

Building Height :
(BH)

IBL is defined as the distance between the centre line of two adjacent interior main frame columns. Most common bay spacings range from 6 meters to 7.5 meters.

Design Loads :
(DL)

Unless otherwise specified, DL considered for Devashish Building Systems are designed for the following minimum loads:

Roof Live Load: 0.57 kN/m2

Design Wind Speed: As per IS : 875 for location

Design for Snow Loads, Seismic loads, collateral loads or any other local condition need to be specified at the time of designing of the Building. Loads are applied in accordance with the latest American codes and standards applicable to Pre-engineered Metal Buildings unless specified otherwise at the time of designing of the Building. The angle of the roof with respect to the horizontal is termed as RS. The most common roof slope is 1/10. However, Building can be designed with any practical roof slope.

Roof Slope(X/10) :
(RS)

The angle of the roof with respect to the horizontal is termed as RS. The most common roof slope is 1/10. However, Building can be designed with any practical roof slope.

The Primary Framing System comprises of built-up welded Hot-rolled I shaped Columns and Rafters. The framing is prepared at Devashish plant and is required to only fitted with bolts in order to assemble at the site. This structure is responsible for transfer of complete building load to the foundations. Primary Framing System consists of:

Endwall Frames

Made of built-up welded Hot Rolled Columns and Rafters. The Frames of Columns and Rafters are supported by connection bolts, anchor bolts and wind bracing.

Intermediate Frames

Made up of built-up welded Hot Rolled Columns and Rafters. The Frames of Columns and Rafters are supported by flange bracings, connection bolts and anchor bolts.

Wind Bracings

They provide longitudinal stability to the building. This consists of High grade steel bracing provided in the roof and side walls in one or more bay depending on loading of the building and its length. If necessary, cross bracings can be effectively replaced by wind portal frames or by fixed base wind columns located adjacent and connected to the main frame columns.

Given below are the commonly used Primary Framing Systems. All the Primary Frames shown herein are symmetrical about the ridge line. Frame asymmetrical about the ridge line, unequal width module and other non-standard frames are also possible.

Clear Span (CS)
Multi-Span-1 (MS-1)
Multi-Span-2 (MS-2)
North Light
Single Slope (SS)
Lean To (LT)
Monitor Type (MT)
Multi Gable (MG)

The Secondary Framing System functions to support and bear the load of Roofing and Cladding and transfer its load to the Primary Framing. The Secondary Framing includes the Roof Purlin, Wall Girts, Clits and miscellaneous items.

Roof Purlins

These are cold formed Z profiles generally 200 mm to 300 mm deep made from 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm thick 245 mpa/345 mpa strength steel. They are fixed to the outer flange of the side wall columns.

Wall Girts

Made up of built-up welded Hot Rolled Columns and Rafters. The Frames of Columns and Rafters are supported by flange bracings, connection bolts and anchor bolts.

Eave Strut

These are cold formed Z or C profiles generally 200 mm to 300 mm deep made from 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm thick 245 mpa/345 mpa strength steel. These are fixed to the outer flange of the outer side wall column with clips bolted to the column and the eave strut bottom flange bolted to the clip.

Devashish produces a variety of Roof Sheeting and Wall Cladding systems to suit specific requirements of the customers.
